A new "Fitness Fáinne" - or "Fitness Ring" has been installed in Oak Park, Co. Carlow. Ten pieces are in place - all from our Standard Range. The Rower, Cross Trainer, Tai Chi Spinners, Seated Puller, Waist Twister, Dip Bars, Rider, Leg Press, Chest Press and Surfboard allow users of all ages and abilities to have an excellent workout. The pieces are installed in a fáinne, or ring structure, and the entire area has also been given a GrassLok safety surfacing finish.

The Irish Times published the results of an interesting in-depth analysis & survey (the 2011 Pembroke Communications Sports Sentiment Index) on the nation’s favourite physical pastimes on December 21st.

The good news is that almost 40 per cent of us claim to be active walkers, with the numbers jumping to 49.6% females. Also, it was interesting that those over 50 expressed the most love for sport, and that the 40-49 age group are the most active of all with over 75% of this category taking part in some sport or other.

Ballincollig, Bandon, Fermoy, Mallow, Rochestown Passage West and Youghal have just installed our Deluxe Set of Outdoor Gym equipment, following a successful installation at Carrigaline earlier in the year.

Our Deluxe Set consists of a large central instruction board, with exercise pieces either side. Our set consists of 7 machines, allowing up to 14 people to be exercising at any one time.

Congratulations to Birr Leisure Centre, the HSE, Offaly County Council and Birr Town Council who have just opened their new Active Age Park. Although this wasn't one of our installations, we welcome this new facility for the people of Birr and the surrounding areas.
