“This is a tremendous example of how the council working with other agencies can save valuable parkland and bring it back into use for whole communities."
Having just written about the Fields in Trust (http://www.fieldsintrust.org/) / Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) outdoor gym in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, we're back to note that the same team is having successes in Llandelio, South Wales, with funding of £27,000 being sourced.
Fields in Trust is working on the Queen Elizabeth II scheme, which aims to get 2,012 public parks throughout Britain protected by Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
This park in Carmarthenshire will be one of these "Queen Elizabeth II Fields" and is to be protected through a Fields in Trust Deed of Dedication, which effectively means that the park will be held in trust as a public open space.
This comes from the South Wales Guardian: http://www.southwalesguardian.co.uk/news/9448881.Efforts_pooled_to_create_a_fitness_area_in_Llandeilo_park/
We look forward to watching the Fields in Trust / Waste Recycling Environmental Limited scheme grow in the weeks to come...
